Job Summary and Responsibilities As a Respiratory Therapist, you will join an established team of RTs who share your passion for delivering highly specialized cardiopulmonary care to patients experiencing breathing issues. You will provide a range of treatments, from breathing techniques and nebulizer treatments to ventilator management, oxygen therapies, and external ventilation support. Each day you will use your assessment and critical‑thinking skills to manage diverse patient needs, develop and execute effective care plans, and maintain calm, focused intervention in both routine and emergent situations. Your dedication to patient well-being and exceptional problem‑solving abilities will drive success in this vital role.

Administer therapy modalities including hand‑held nebulizer (HHN), HHN via metered dose inhaler (HHN/MDI), intrapulmonary percussive ventilation (IPV), chest physical therapy (CPT), and pentamidine therapy; medication administration may be included during these modalities.

Administer medical gas therapy, including oxygen and helium‑oxygen therapy (HeO2).

Perform ventilation therapies, including maintenance and management of life‑support systems, both non‑invasive and invasive, and transport of ventilator patients to diagnostic procedures.

Conduct physiological monitoring and diagnostic testing, including ABG puncture, bronchoscopy assistance, pulmonary function testing, bedside PFTs, metabolic monitoring, apnea monitoring, transcutaneous monitoring, capnography, pulse oximetry, and sleep apnea assessment.

Perform specialized procedures such as CPR, bronchial lavage, transport, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, artificial and tracheostomy airway care, and body mechanics/ambulation. Assignment to the Pulmonary Function Lab for spirometry, gas diffusion, and body plethysmography is possible.

Document all patient care accurately and completely in the required departmental documentation system.

Job Requirements

Completion of a respiratory care degree program, upon hire.

Respiratory Care Practitioner certification in Texas, upon hire.

Registered Respiratory Therapist, upon hire.

Basic Life Support – CPR, within 14 days.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 6 months.

Pay Range $29.44 – $43.79 per hour
