Job Responsibilities: Essential Duties & Responsibilities This position encompasses responsibilities typically associated with both a Senior Designer and a Product Development Engineer.
Product Design & Development
Utilize CAD tools (UG/NX and/or CATIA V5) to design, develop, and release parts and assemblies in accordance with customer and internal requirements.
Create temporary studies, concept sketches, and design alternatives to resolve engineering concerns.
Modify drawings and math data per approved DWOs, PCNs, and change management procedures.
Execute design guidelines and development activities aligned with IATF 16949 quality standards.
Adhere to group, divisional, and customer data standards for model structure, file naming, and data storage.
Project Leadership & Engineering Analysis
Lead new development initiatives focused on innovation, cost savings, global alignment, and new business growth.
Develop and manage project goals, timing plans, cost targets, and deliverables.
Analyze complex design challenges using sound engineering and mathematical principles.
Conduct and/or support GD& T development, tolerance stack-ups, assembly tuning strategies, and related technical negotiations.
Coordinate CAE activities and ensure studies appropriately support DFMEA, DVP&R, and program requirements.
Benchmark competitive products, track emerging technologies, and recommend relevant adoption.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Communicate and coordinate effectively across divisions, sales, program teams, customers, and corporate leadership.
Support Exteriors and Sales teams in new business pursuits.
Provide engineering direction and mentorship to design personnel.
Consult across engineering disciplines regarding design, drafting, prototype development, and validation.
Quality, Compliance & Documentation
Create and maintain DFMEAs, DVPs, timelines, and open-issue lists.
Ensure compliance with Customer Specific Requirements (CSR) as defined by each OEM.
Integrate best practices and lessons learned into new designs, share learnings across programs.
Identify and report issues related to product design, process capability, or quality systems.
Other Responsibilities
Represent the company professionally with integrity, enthusiasm, and customer-focus.
Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
Effective network within the organization to leverage available resources.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Skills & Knowledge
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong proficiency in CAD software (UG/NX and/or CATIA V5 required).
Thorough knowledge of drafting standards, layout, detailing, and checking procedures.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to interface directly with OEM customers.
Understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling considerations, and robust product development practices.
Experience
Minimum 5–10 years of automotive CAD and product development experience.
Experience supporting cross-functional teams, product launches, and OEM programs.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Normal office environment with typical sitting/standing requirements.
Frequent computer-based work.
Occasional local or regional travel to support development and launch activities.
