Construction Superintendent (Traveling)

The position plans, directs, and coordinates all field activities pertaining to the assigned construction project. Efficiently perform all activities associated with the field performance of contracts awarded to the company and support the specific objectives of the Project Manager and/or General Superintendent.
The Superintendent provides leadership to a team of skilled craftsmen to effectively manage the work while championing safety, fiscal responsibility, productivity, and quality. The Superintendent should be extremely reliable, have a positive hands‑on attitude and be committed to delivering quality work above and beyond specifications and expectations. Ensure all safety standards are communicated to and adhered to by all personnel onsite. Must be willing and able to accept out of town project assignments that require overnight travel and staying locally while the project is underway.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Drive safety compliance and require adherence to all safety rules and standards.
Maintain a safe working environment by identifying workplace hazards and taking corrective action when necessary. Ensure employees have up‑to‑date information on safety procedures and policies.
Responsible for quality control. Verify drawings against submittals to ensure accuracy.
Complete record‑keeping duties including daily logs, photographs and other reporting and documentation requirements. Complete, maintain, and submit all required reports, logs, punch lists, etc. associated with the project.
Communicate and give clear direction and leadership to project team, including subcontractors, vendors, owners, architects, etc.
Coordinate and manage subcontractors and related county and municipal inspections.
Provide regular updates and monitor/manage construction progress.
Maintain strict control over the accuracy, quality, and conformance to plans and specifications for subcontracts and supplier’s work.
Supervise all construction efforts to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule.
Plan, coordinate, and supervise onsite functions (scheduling, engineering, material control, inspections).
Provide technical assistance, i.e., interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc., as required.
Participate in OAC meetings.
Assume responsibility for productivity of subcontractors, efficient use of materials & equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
Travel is required in this role. Depending on the project location you will be required to stay locally with the project until the project is completed. Periodic travel home will be worked out with the General Superintendent. The ability and willingness to travel overnight and be assigned out of town projects is required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
5+ years of experience working for a General Contractor in a commercial construction environment managing commercial project builds.
Ability to read blueprints and interpret construction documents.
Experience managing a wide variety of commercial projects (Design build, ground up, interior, renovations, etc.).
Manage and appropriately schedule multiple subcontractors on project.
Maintain project schedule and ensure materials are on site.
Knowledge of commercial construction process.
Working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, Raken.
OSHA 30 certification.
