Responsibilities
Works under direction of Physical Therapist to administer outpatient and inpatient physical therapy treatment techniques (e.g., exercise, moist heat, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, gait training, manual therapy, etc.) to restore body functions, relieve pain, and prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of body part; instructs patients in care and use of braces, canes, crutches, or prosthetic devices; records pertinent information in medical record with co-signature by supervising Physical Therapist; actively communicates pertinent patient information to supervising Physical Therapist.
Directs patient care activities of Physical Therapist Aides; participates in training programs for other Allied Health departments in the hospital.
Assists with completion of special project as required and/or assigned; as requested, supervises activities in Rehab. Department in absence of Director or Assistant Director.
Develops and demonstrates knowledge of current advances in Physical Therapy to maintain professional competency through literature review, peer review or continuing education.

Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
Attends all mandatory education and in-services (i.e., team training, safety, infection control, etc.); completes mandatory health requirements.
Performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital’s and department’s Ethics and Compliance program and is responsible to detect, observe and report compliance variances to immediate supervisor, chain of command, Compliance Officer, or hospital hotline.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Associate degree in Physical Therapy Assisting from an accredited program of study.
Licensed by the Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Athletic Trainers Board to practice Physical Therapy Assisting in the state of Ohio.
Maintains continuous certification in American Heart Association’s BLS.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
Knowledge of hospital and departmental goals and objectives; hospital policies and procedures; workplace violence prevention and de‑escalation training within six (6) months of hire and annually thereafter; clinical interventions, education, and equipment necessary to meet the specific needs of the patient population.
Ability to achieve and maintain required competencies related to job duties; ability to communicate effectively; develop and maintain effective working relationships.
Skill in use of department‑specific equipment (ultrasound, electrical stimulation, iontophoresis, phonophoresis, traction, whirlpool, etc.); treatment of patients referred for Physical Therapy Services; application of Physical Therapy modalities.
Equipment Operated Ultrasound, electrical stimulation, iontophoresis, phonophoresis, traction, whirlpool.
Experience and Qualifications Associate degree in Physical Therapy Assisting from an accredited program of study.
Licensure or Certification Requirements Licensed by the Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Athletic Trainers Board to practice Physical Therapy Assisting in the state of Ohio. Maintains continuous certification in American Heart Association’s BLS.
