General Responsibilities
Promote Acadian/AirMed mission, vision, and goals.
Lead as a role model and clinical resource.
Participate in Air Med Management meetings, disaster drills, staff meetings, and community/hospital meetings.
Identify concerns and communicate with Flight Line Supervisors, Associate Quality Improvement Supervisors, Operations Manager/Supervisor, Chief Flight Nurse, and Quality Improvement Supervisor.
Promote company health and wellness programs and initiatives.
Assist and work with Associate Quality Improvement Supervisors and Flight Line Supervisors as needed.
Complete special projects as assigned.
Safety
Communicate with Operations Manager/Supervisor and Lead Pilot to assure timely identification of safety issues, reporting, and resolution.
Promote and uphold safety standards for self, flight line staff, and patients to include HSE standards.
Report fatigue issues as needed and consult with AMOC/Air Med management.
Performance and Education
Conduct a careful examination of the patient for signs and symptoms of illness/injury and assist other medical personnel as necessary.
Administer prompt and efficient basic, intermediate, or advanced life support care within the limits of licensure or certification and in accordance with approved protocols prior to and during transport.
Provide careful handling of the patient to and from the air ambulance.
Provide safe and efficient transport of the patient in the air ambulance to the medical facility.
Transfer patient and patient care information to the receiving personnel at the destination.
Document all aspects of patient condition and treatment on ePCR run reports. Obtain and record non‑medical patient information as required. Complete other patient documentation and forms as required.
Use basic extrication tools and procedures to gain access to the patient if necessary.
Control the patient’s surroundings to minimize danger and control bystander actions.
Follow all FCC regulations when communicating via electronic communications equipment.
Complete assigned station and station grounds duties.
Provide company reports and logs as necessary to ambulance and supervisory personnel.
Be temporarily assigned to a ground ambulance by Flight Line Supervisor, Operations Manager/Supervisor as needed when the aircraft cannot fly.
Meet and fulfill the qualifications, requirements, functions, and responsibilities of the Emergency Medical Technician‑Basic and Intermediate job descriptions.
Equipment/ Supplies
Conduct regular aircraft inventory and equipment testing to ensure all equipment is present, clean, and in proper working order.
After transport, return the aircraft and equipment to service.
Maintain full knowledge of ambulance and air ambulance equipment and its proper use at all times.
Document and report all needed repairs to maintenance departments and Flight Fine Supervisors and Operations Manager/Supervisor.
Employment Expectations
PHTLS, PALS, and NRP are required within 12 months of hire.
Advanced Credential CCP‑C or FP‑C (preferred) within 18 months of hire.
Air Med reserves the right to change FP‑C requirement to maintain CAMTS standard if needed.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Body weight of 210 lbs or less in uniform.
Report to the assigned Air Med station within 90 minutes drive time from residence.
National Registry and appropriate State Paramedic license.
BLS, ACLS, and a valid driver’s license required.
Acadian Critical Care Transport Course completion preferred (internal applicants) or other Credentialed Critical Care Course (external applicants) preferred.
Paramedic with at least three years of critical care transport experience or proof of equivalent experience.
Strong working knowledge of CORE protocols and CCT equipment.
No recent disciplinary actions, QI issues, or safety infractions.
Alternates must meet same report‑to‑station requirement.
Comprehensive interview including written, oral protocol assessment and practical skills assessment.
Work history/QI status review with OM/OC/OS/QIC conducted prior to interview. Positive recommendation required for interview scheduling.
External applicants must meet same report‑to‑station and interview requirements.
