Salary Range $28.00–$39.10 per hour

Job Summary Registered Nurses in Tower 200 Progressive Care of the Trauma Acute Care Surgical Center at UK Chandler Hospital provide care primarily for adult patients with trauma or acute care surgical conditions.

Responsibilities

Assess, document, plan, implement, teach, develop, and evaluate a comprehensive nursing plan of care.

Deliver direct patient care and ensure patient satisfaction.

Train and delegate duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistants).

Adhere to University policies, procedures and regulations as well as federal, state and local laws.

Collaborate with nursing staff and physicians to increase communication and enhance patient outcomes.

Qualifications

Knowledge of Maslow’s eight basic human needs, Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns framework and Swanson’s Caring model.

Superb direct patient care and critical‑thinking skills.

Basic computer navigation skills and working knowledge of the internet.

Effective communication with patients, families, coworkers and physicians.

Strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills.

Highly motivated, proactive, confident advocate for patients and their families.

Required Education & Experience

Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), provisional license or active compact state RN license in good standing.

American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification, valid at least six months after employment date.

ADN required; BSN preferred with at least one year of RN experience.

Physical & Other Requirements The essential functions include the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50–100 pounds on a daily basis and 25–50 pounds frequently; stand, walk and sit for long periods; and exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injuries from intractable patients or sharp instruments.

Shift Details Must work two 12‑hour day shifts (7 AM–7:30 PM), every Saturday and Sunday. This position is part of the Weekend Premium Pay (WEPP) plan and requires work on some holidays.
