Responsibilities Support Advocates are responsible for the provision of day-to-day services to our program participants. Duties may include assisting and/or teaching individuals personal care (bathing, toileting, teeth brushing), household maintenance, meal preparation or shopping, medication administration, following routines and supporting behavior plans. Support Advocates may accompany individuals on appointments.
Support Advocates receive a 5-day New Employee Orientation and training on CPR/First Aid, Safety Care, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP). They also receive program-specific training at the work site.
Qualifications
18+ years old
High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid Driver’s License & Good Driving Record
Preferred Qualifications
Commitment to assisting people with varying disabilities to participate fully in their community and in their own lives
Varied interests and personal connections in the local community
Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer or school history)
Ability to work as a creative, engaged, dedicated member of your team
