Job Summary Under a collaborative agreement with a physician, the Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) is an Advanced Practice Provider who, in collaboration with an attending physician, is responsible for the assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation of nurse midwifery care delivered to antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum, and newborn patients.
The CNM performs physical exams, collects and documents data, manages labor and spontaneous delivery, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, and prescribes appropriate interventions and medications.
The CNM practice includes primary as well as specialized care provided at UK Women's Health-Georgetown and Georgetown Community Hospital.
The CNM promotes safety and quality in clinical care, contributes to research and teaching, and provides leadership in the organization.
Shift Requirements Per the OB/GYN Practice Plan, all CNMs are required to take 8 call shifts per month. 8 call shifts is the equivalent of 4 weeknights plus one weekend per month.
Qualifications
MSN (Master's requirement does not apply to those who completed qualifying education by July 1, 2005)
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) certification
License/Registration/Certification: APRN with CNM certification
Required Experience: 1 year
