Overview
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) – ALL SHIFTS – St. Catherine of Siena Healthcare Center, Chicago 60108. This position provides care and support to medically fragile youth and offers experience in the Non-Profit sector while developing nursing skills under supervision. Responsibilities
Follow Maryville’s standard policies and procedures and program SOPs. Assist patients with personal hygiene and toileting needs. Assist with comfort needs by transferring, lifting, moving and repositioning patients as appropriate. Assist with food preparation and patient feeding. Support patients with educational and recreational activities. Take and record vital signs and monitor input and output as directed by the nurse. Ensure patient clothing and personal items are identified and laundered regularly. Maintain cleanliness of patient rooms by changing linens and cleaning equipment and toys daily. Transport patients in a Maryville van as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of a certified/basic nurse’s aide program. Currently registered as a nurse’s aide in the State of Illinois. CPR certification. Experience in a pediatric hospital is preferred. Valid driver’s license. Skills / Knowledge
Effective verbal and written communication. Ability to assess, plan and evaluate patient care. Ability to identify sudden adverse developments in patient condition. Knowledge of disease processes. Ability to assist with procedures such as trach suctioning and GT feedings. Ability to drive a passenger van. Physical Demands
Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping; may be required for extended periods. Occasional lifting/moving of objects and/or youth weighing over 40 pounds. Visual, hearing, and learning capabilities sufficient to perform essential functions. Environment And Scheduling
Day shifts: 7am–3pm; Evening shifts: 3pm–11pm; Overnight shifts: 11pm–7am. Work is performed in designated administrative and clinical settings; potential contact with youth who may be hostile, threatening, or under the influence of substances. Flexible to work additional hours as necessary. HIPAA Privacy Training And Sanctions
All employees with access to health information protected by the HIPAA Privacy Rule must receive training relevant to their job responsibilities and the health plan’s policies.
