LPN - Night Shift, up to $8,000 sign‑on bonus

Summary:
The LPN nurse works the night shift on a designated nursing unit and assures smooth operations of the unit under the direction of supervision of a registered nurse. Scope of work may be modified by state rules under the Nurse Practice Act.
Education Graduate of an accredited LPN school Nursing
Licenses & Certifications Current valid LPN license in the state employed Valid CPR certification
Experience At least one (1) year nursing experience preferred. Evidence of continuing education or special preparation or experience in gerontological nursing and/or long‑term care nursing desirable.
Essential Functions
Participate with members of the interdisciplinary team to assess, plan, coordinate and evaluate resident’s care; document the resident’s condition and nursing needs accurately and in a timely manner; report pertinent observations and reactions regarding residents promptly to RN.
Provide oncoming shift and supervisors with accurate and complete resident status report; maintain the 24‑hour report book; receive and record physicians’ orders.
Communicate staffing problems and needs to the nursing manager; provide input on staffing ratios and deployment; develop work assignments for LPN/LVNs and nurse aides as directed.
Coordinate, direct and evaluate staff (medication aides, medication techs, nurse aides, etc.) as directed; participate in counseling, disciplinary action and termination of staff to the extent permitted by the state nurse practice act.
Assure compliance with policies and procedures; report problems and complaints timely to the nurse manager; provide feedback to nurse managers regarding performance of nurse aides.
Participate in hiring and selection of LPN/LVNs and nurse aides; give feedback and participate in performance appraisals as assigned; coordinate nursing assignment, which includes directing assigned nursing staff to the extent permitted by state practice act.
Receive and provide accurate and complete resident status report at shift change; maintain 24‑hour report book.
Assist in data collection for admission, transfer and discharge of residents and provide the information to the nurse manager.
Assure that inventory and supplies are maintained in a clean and safe manner on the unit, are utilized economically and communicate need for housekeeping, maintenance or nutritional services assistance.
