Position Summary: Performs direct and indirect functions in the cardiac cath Lab. Assists physicians/staff with clinical and technical aspects of cardiovascular care. Scrubs, monitors, and circulates in all invasive procedures in the Cath lab. The department provides training on Structural Heart scrubbing. Able to function on all cardiac alerts and STEMI cases.
Job Responsibilities
Assesses physical, psychosocial and developmental needs of the patient, completes pre, intra and post procedure assessment, informs nurse/MD of any changes in patient’s condition.
Develops a plan of care for the procedure being performed, individualized to include specific patient problems, needs and scheduled procedure.
Provides teaching and guidance to patient and/or family as well as staff members.
Performs x-ray for desired views (abdominal aorta gram, runoff, division, storing and printing images), sets priorities for care of patients based on needs and resources.
Executes IABP monitoring and assists with setup, insertion and care of temporary and permanent pacemakers.
Candidate Requirements
Education: Associate degree in Radiology or equivalent, Basic EKG course. Preferred: Bachelor in Radiology or equivalent.
Experience: Required 6 months in Cath Lab/Cardiac Intervention Lab. Preferred 1 year providing cardiac Cath, radiology care.
Certifications: Required BLS and ACLS within 6 months of hire. Preferred RCIS certification.
Working Hours: 06:00-18:30.
Oncall: Required after hours, weekends, holidays as per rotation.
Response: Must respond to emergencies within 30 minutes of alert.
Team and Equipment Four team members for both working hours and on call teams (1 Scrub, 1 RT, 1 circulating RN, 1 Monitoring personnel). The department uses Philips x-ray equipment, Acist injectors, Philips IVUS/iFR, Xper Monitoring System, Cerner PowerChart, and Spacetrax Inventory System.
