About the Unit 7 South is a 22‑bed Progressive Neuroscience unit located within Butterworth Hospital. The unit specializes in the care of stroke and adult epilepsy patients. As an accredited comprehensive stroke center, we can receive and treat the most complex stroke cases. Our epilepsy program performs a range of EEG monitoring from routine to surgical implantation. While specialized, there is still a lot to learn due to the variety of conditions patients may have in addition to their stroke. Teamwork on this unit is exceptional; units members assist each other, creating a welcoming and warm atmosphere. 7 South welcomes new graduates and experienced professionals alike and offers ongoing learning and skill development opportunities for all backgrounds.

Scope of Work Deliver nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrate competency through the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Uphold the standards of professional performance as defined by the ANA, including ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. Strive to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

Associate’s in Nursing required.

Bachelor’s in Nursing required within 5 years of graduation.

MI Registered Nurse (RN) license required.

AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days.
