Registered Nurse – NICU/Nursery Special Care Location:
Baylor Scott & White Medical Center–Waxahachie, Texas
Schedule:
Full-time Nights, 3 12‑hour shifts, 6:45 PM‑7:15 AM
Department Overview:
The department is a Level II NICU currently expanding to Level III. Our growing community hospital is known for its family‑like work environment, supportive management, and patient experience scores in the 99th percentile for Women’s Health.
Job Summary As a Registered Nurse, you will oversee patient care provided by the healthcare team using a professional practice model. Your responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and evaluating patient responses.
What You’ll Do
Conduct detailed clinical assessments, prioritize patient and family needs, and create, implement, and evaluate care plans.
Build therapeutic relationships, manage discomfort, and maintain professionalism with patients and families.
Develop care plans that reflect our values and aid in resolving patient issues.
Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members to empower better healthcare choices, assessing learning needs regularly.
Collaborate with colleagues and the community to create care plans, delegate tasks carefully, and follow up promptly.
Use problem‑solving strategies with patients, families, and staff, recognizing limitations and prioritizing safety, effectiveness, and efficiency.
Achieve care goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth, and contribute to peer development and community service commitments.
What Will Make You Successful In The Role
Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, guidelines, and hospital procedures.
Proficiency in medical terminology, including disease prevention, management, common medications and their side effects.
Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
Positive social skills for interacting with a diverse range of parties.
Excellent problem‑solving capabilities and critical thinking.
Basic computer skills covering Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
