Job Summary This position is responsible for serving as the primary registered nurse delivering care to patients who are admitted to the Family Birth Center. The patient population may include low‑risk and high‑risk pregnancies, as well as providing care to postpartum patients and well newborns. Sign on bonus available.
Essential Job Functions
Conduct Maternal‑Fetal Assessment.
Provide nursing support to laboring patients utilizing pharmacological and non‑pharmacological pain management.
Provide stabilization and transition of the newborn at delivery.
Circulate for cesarean sections.
Care for the post‑surgical patient.
Assist the anesthesiologist with insertion of an epidural and provide care to patients with regional anesthesia.
Provide care to high‑risk maternity patients.
Assess and care for post‑partum and newborn patients.
Identify and provide appropriate interventions to mothers with post‑partum complications.
Provide support and education to breast‑feeding mothers.
Identify full‑term infants at risk for complications and provide appropriate care.
Job Requirements Education / Work Experience
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
Possession of a BSN degree is preferred.
Previous recent Labor and Delivery experience is preferred, or
1‑2 years Med/Surg experience, with expectation of completing our Labor and Delivery education program after hire.
Licensure / Certification
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse issued by the Washington State Board of Nursing.
Current American Heart Association BLS certification. Quarterly AHA Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification is required post‑hire.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) completion within 6 months of hire.
Electronic fetal monitoring certification offered by NCC, or ANCC certification, is preferred.
