About The Unit Meijer Heart Center (6 Heart) is a 46‑bed cardiac and vascular progressive/stepdown unit at the Meijer Heart Center. The primary patient population includes patients with various cardiac and vascular diseases requiring medical, procedural, or surgical interventions, such as acute coronary syndrome, acute myocardial infarction, post‑PCI, peripheral artery disease, renal artery disease, aortic aneurysm, carotid artery disease and heart rhythm disorders.
6 Heart nurses are skilled in peritoneal dialysis, continuous insulin drip management, and hemodynamic monitoring with arterial lines. This unit offers a great environment to grow and develop as a nurse, fostering a collaborative team focused on safe and excellent patient care.
Scope of Work The RN, under the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the nursing process to provide professional nursing care. The RN plans, implements, evaluates, and discharges patients while documenting education and learning in the health record. All care is delivered under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies.
Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in Nursing (required)
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (required within 5 years)
MI Registered Nurse (RN) (required)
Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA American Heart Association (required within 90 days)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – AHA (required within 6 months)
