Job Description
Develop novel computational approaches and analytical tools to sustain line‑specific breeding programs
Design and direct ELISA testing for Alpha‑1 Antitrypsin, overseeing technician performance, reviewing & interpreting results related to breeding protocols
Design and develop dose‑escalation studies involving live specimens, managing drug administration per IACUC protocols
Collect, dissect, examine, and interpret results of murine tissue and organ harvest
Develop, organize, and conduct flow analysis and data interpretation
Provide intellectual input on cloning strategies for generation of unique plasmids and adenovector viruses; isolate and maintain bacterial cultures
Develop and maintain IBC and IACUC protocol submissions, revisions, and amendments
Create organization strategy for sample inventory across multiple animal colonies; collaborate with UF Information Technology on database systems and web‑based tools; evaluate and test new software for statistical & computational modeling
Manage laboratory teams, monitor, and direct scientific efforts with murine colonies
Review laboratory team reports and proposals for accuracy and compliance with IACUC policies and regulations
Supervise other scientists, undergraduate students, and volunteers in the laboratory
Coordinate experiments involving live animals that undergo exposures, treatments, and procedures with other campus research groups
Monitor experiments with live animals and document weekly parameters: exposure/treatment delivery, animal weight, and well‑being
Interact and coordinate with off‑campus collaborators for sample shipments, online meetings, and in‑person visits
Prepare quarterly performance reports of scientists, students, and volunteers under direct supervision
Expected Salary $60,000 – $70,000 annually
Required Qualifications Same as Classification Minimum Requirements
Preferred 5–10 years bench experience in a research laboratory setting
