Student Success Specialist
Student Support Services-TRIO (SSS), a federally funded U.S. Department of Education TRIO Program, is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated individual to step into the role of Student Success Specialist and join our team. SSS provides comprehensive and sensitive support to college participants, focusing on educational, social, and professional experiences to enhance graduation rates for low-income, first‑generation, and students with disabilities. On occasion, weekend and evening hours will be required.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem‑solver, adept at working in a fast-paced office environment. They embody a student-centered, holistic approach and are deeply committed to student success. They are familiar with retention and student coaching strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assists with providing holistic advisement, financial aid/scholarship advisement, and consultive services for the target SSS TRIO population.
Assists with outreach and retention activities designed to attract, retain, and serve SSS TRIO students; supports activity logistics.
Assists in the preparation, logistics, and delivery of workshops, presentations, and orientations related to student success activities.
Receives guidance, training, and mentoring from professional personnel in planning and carrying out activities and assignments; engages in directed professional development.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree; no previous experience required.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Basic knowledge and interest in a career in Higher Education / Student Affairs.
Prior experience and or familiarity with low-income, first-generation-to-college, and/or students with disabilites or TRIO programs.
Ability to coordinate and organize educational programs, meetings, and/or special events.
Strong listening, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
