The Department of Entomology at the University of Maryland seeks a full‑time, Professional‑track (non‑tenure) faculty Lecturer to contribute to the undergraduate curriculum in the Biological Sciences Program (BSCI). The position begins on August 1, 2026.
Responsibilities The appointee will teach two undergraduate courses per semester, including Introductory Biology, Organismal Biology, and/or Genetics. Duties include preparation and presentation of course materials, supervision and coordination of teaching assistants, and other duties as needed to accomplish the instructional mission. The appointee will also be a member of the department’s academic advising team. This 9.0‑month position offers opportunities for separately compensated teaching in summer or winter terms. The faculty member will participate in departmental and campus service.
Qualifications
Earned Ph.D. in Biological Sciences (broadly defined) at time of appointment.
Experience teaching a full undergraduate course.
Excellent communication skills as evidenced by teaching, research, and outreach activities.
Training or scholarship in pedagogy.
