The Opportunity We're seeking a Staff Accountant to take ownership of our day-to-day accounting while also supporting higher-level financial clarity and reporting. This role is ideal for someone who is equally comfortable zooming out to understand the full financial picture and zooming in to manage highly detailed, accurate work.
You’ll work closely with company leadership and project teams to ensure our financial systems support smart decision-making, clean job cost tracking, and continued growth. Experience with construction accounting and QuickBooks Online is essential.
This role is open to remote work (California familiarity preferred).
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day accounting transactions including AP/AR, payroll entries, expense reports, and vendor invoicing
Own monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Maintain the general ledger and ensure proper classification of all transactions
Process, review, and reconcile vendor invoices, statements, and credit card activity
Track detailed project costs, budgets, change orders, and cost codes in coordination with project management
Assist with progress billing, draw schedules, and monitoring receivables
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and project-related accounts
Prepare and deliver financial reports and job cost analysis to support leadership decisions
Support CPA, tax filings, and any external audits by preparing clean documentation
Identify and implement process improvements within QuickBooks Online and related workflows
Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and applicable regulations
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
2-5 years
of accounting experience, preferably within construction or project-based industries
Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online (construction job costing experience required)
Solid understanding of GAAP and construction cost accounting principles
Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with detailed financial data
Exceptionally detail-oriented while able to think strategically about the business as a whole
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Clear, professional communicator with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
