We have partnered with a growing construction company based in the Charlotte, NC area specializing in commercial projects across the Carolinas. The team values integrity, collaboration, and quality. We are looking for a detail‑oriented Staff Accountant to support our accounting operations and help keep the financial processes running smoothly.
Position Summary The Staff Accountant will play a key role in day‑to‑day accounting activities, job cost tracking, and financial reporting. This position requires strong analytical skills, accuracy, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including subcontractor invoices and customer billings
Assist with job cost accounting, including tracking labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses
Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and vendor statements
Support payroll processing and verify job-site labor allocations
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and construction industry requirements
Prepare and maintain documentation for audits and year-end close
Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate project financials
Perform other accounting duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
1–3 years of accounting experience (construction industry experience preferred)
Strong understanding of GAAP
Experience with job cost accounting and WIP schedules is a plus
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Viewpoint, QuickBooks, or similar)
Advanced Excel skills
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
