Job Description Bronson Battle Creek Hospital is looking for Registered Nurses to provide high‑quality, patient‑focused care in our operating room. The RN manages the care delivery, coordinates with the surgical team, delegates tasks, and documents nursing assessments and interventions according to Michigan Public Health Code and institutional policies.

Sign‑On Bonus Details

Up to $10,000 for RNs with less than 1 year of experience.

Up to $20,000 for experienced RNs.

Bonus amounts vary based on unit, shift, and approved hours.

Qualifications

Associate degree in Nursing required

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred, must obtain within 8 years of hire

Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing for the state of Michigan

BLS certification required by completion of core orientation

Critical Care or ALS, and other certifications may be required for some RNs, unit specific

Current driver's license in the state of Michigan and proof of insurance required for BAH

Clinical Competencies

The registered nurse collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or the situation.

Assesses the patient’s physical and developmental needs.

Analyzes assessment data to identify appropriate patient needs.

Documents nursing history and age‑appropriate physical/emotional needs/strengths for assigned patients.

Reviews vital signs to assess condition of patient and detect deviations from normal.

Uses assessment data to identify patient problems and confirms problems with patient and family when appropriate.

Documents expected outcomes and plan of care related to the problems through use of the clinical pathway and outcome teaching record.

Coordinates discharge planning for outcomes not achieved utilizing the continuum of care available.

Implements the identified plan, administers prescribed medication, and utilizes evidence‑based interventions.

Manages the care plan by organizing and delegating patient care interventions and evaluating the effectiveness of care.

Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of the patient and initiates a patient education plan.

Professional Performance Standards

Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.

Participates in quality improvement activities and uses the results to initiate changes.

Attains knowledge and competency that reflects current nursing practice.

Participates in ongoing educational activities related to appropriate knowledge and professional issues.

Maintains professional records that provide evidence of competency and continued ongoing educational activities.

Provides age‑appropriate care in a culturally and ethnically sensitive manner.

Participates in self‑evaluation, identifies areas of strengths, and seeks professional development.

Collaborates with patient, family, and other health professionals to create positive outcomes.

Acts as a patient advocate and integrates research findings into practice.

Leads professional practice and participates in nursing councils, hospital, and unit‑based committees.

Attends at least 50 % of unit staff meetings and works to maintain a healthy work environment.
