RPGST-Registered Polysomnographer – Per-diem Rivers Health is seeking a full-time RPGST-Registered Polysomnographer. The technologist works under the supervision of the Sleep Disorders Clinical Coordinator and has earned certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT).

Provides care or direct service to the patients.

Works in close proximity to the patients.

Age Specific Legend

Young Adult: 18 yrs. – 45 yrs.

Middle aged Adult: 45 yrs. – 65 yrs.

Late Adulthood: Over 65 yrs.

Job Responsibilities

Collects, analyzes and integrates patient information to identify and meet the patient-specific needs, and to determine final testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or facility director and laboratory protocols.

Explains pre-testing, testing and post-testing procedures to patients.

Prepares and calibrates equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and make adjustments if necessary.

Applies electrodes and sensors according to published standards.

Performs appropriate physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals and make adjustments, if necessary.

Performs routine positive airway procedure (PAP) mask fitting.

Follows procedural protocols such as (MSLT), (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration etc. to ensure collection of proper data.

Follows “lights out” procedures to establish and document baseline values.

Performs Polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free.

Performs HSAT both with and without effort monitoring.

Documents routine observations including sleep stages, clinical events, changes in procedure, etc. to facilitate scoring and interpretation.

Implements appropriate interventions for patient safety and therapeutics (e.g., CPAP, BiPAP, oxygen).

Follows “lights on” procedures to verify data integrity and completes the collection process.

Demonstrates knowledge for age specific care in treatment, assessment, and education of all age patients.

Oversees and performs difficult and unusual procedures and therapeutic interventions.

Scores sleep/wake stages by professionally accepted guidelines.

Generates accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical events.

Performs routine and complex equipment care and maintenance.

Evaluates sleep study equipment inventory.

Responds to procedural inquiries with appropriate information.

Complies with BRPT Standards of Conduct.

Ensures compliance with regulations to maintain accreditation and licensure.

Completed all CHH and department specific requirements in the prior calendar year.
