RPGST-Registered Polysomnographer – Per-diem Rivers Health is seeking a per-diem RPGST-Registered Polysomnographer. The technologist works under the supervision of the Sleep Disorders Clinical Coordinator and has earned certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT).

Age Specific Criteria

Provides care or direct service to patients.

Works in close proximity to patients.

Interacts regularly with patients.

Age Specific Legend:

Young Adult: 18–45 years.

Middle Aged Adult: 45–65 years.

Late Adulthood: over 65 years.

Job Responsibilities

Collect, analyze, and integrate patient information to identify and meet patient-specific needs, and determine final testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician, facility director, and laboratory protocols.

Explain pre-testing, testing, and post-testing procedures to patients.

Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to ensure proper functioning and make adjustments as necessary.

Apply electrodes and sensors according to published standards.

Perform appropriate physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals and make adjustments if necessary.

Perform routine positive airway procedure (PAP) mask fitting.

Follow procedural protocols such as MSLT, MWT, parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration, etc., to ensure collection of proper data.

Follow “lights out” procedures to establish and document baseline values.

Perform polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure artifact-free signals and make adjustments as necessary.

Perform HSAT both with and without effort monitoring.

Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.

Implement appropriate interventions for patient safety and therapeutic interventions such as continuous and bi-level PAP, oxygen administration, etc.

Follow “lights on” procedures to verify integrity of collected data and complete the data collection process.

Demonstrate knowledge and skills to recognize and provide age-specific care in treatment, assessment, and education of all age patients.

Oversee and perform difficult and unusual procedures and therapeutic interventions.

Score sleep/wake stages by applying professionally accepted guidelines.

Generate accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical events.

Perform routine and complex equipment care and maintenance.

Evaluate sleep study related equipment inventory.

Respond to study participants’ procedural-related inquiries by providing appropriate information.

Comply with BRPT Standards of Conduct.
