Additional Job Description West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Medicine is seeking a full‑time hepatologist (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor) to join a growing academic program. The ideal candidate should be board certified or board eligible in transplant hepatology and gastroenterology. They will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.

DUTIES Clinical duties involve outpatient hepatology clinic, general endoscopy, and attending on the inpatient gastroenterology/hepatology consult service (approximately 1:8). With sufficient growth of the hepatology section, the division plans to create a separate hepatology inpatient consult service. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. The gastroenterology fellowship currently comprises 12 fellows (4 per year).

QUALIFICATIONS Candidates must have an MD or DO degree, or foreign equivalent, and be eligible for state medical license. Candidates must have completed an accredited internal medicine residency program, gastroenterology fellowship and transplant hepatology fellowship. The successful candidate must be board eligible, or board certified in gastroenterology and transplant hepatology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

Our GI and Hepatology service line of professionals offers a complete range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, treats a medically diverse population, and has exposure to clinically challenging cases. We have a new and expanding endoscopy center including state‑of‑the‑art suites for advanced procedures and ERCPs, as well as close access to adjacent specialty clinics.

The team includes 11 gastroenterology physicians (including 3 hepatologists) and 5 APPs (including 1 full‑time hepatology nurse practitioner).
