Position Summary Prepares, processes, cuts and stains histology sections to be diagnosed by a Pathologist or investigator.

Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Prepares histology sections by processing tissue and embedding, cutting, and staining prepared sections.

Performs special techniques such as immunohistochemical techniques and stains and cutting of frozen tissue.

Prepares and changes solutions and reagents.

Performs general maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Maintains supply and chemical inventories.

Cleans and prepares staining set and conducts quality control.

Performs record keeping and clerical support functions.

Assists supervisor with other duties and special projects as needed.

Working Conditions Job Location/Working Conditions:

Requires extensive safety training.

Exposure to blood-borne pathogens.

Physical Effort

Typically sitting at desk or table.

Repetitive wrist, hand or finger movement.

Equipment

Lab/research equipment.

Salary Range $20.57 - $30.84 / Hourly The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
