Summary Provides surveillance for infection control, identifies, investigates, and records data concerning nosocomial infections and infectious diseases. Initiates infection control measures as directed by the infection control committee and develops infection control policies and prevention programs.

Responsibilities

Effectively host or participate in live or virtual meetings utilizing virtual meeting platforms on‑site or remotely as needed.

Work with the Chief Medical Officer and Medical Staff Department Chairpersons on peer‑review activities and prepare QI reports for Medical Department Meetings.

Facilitate Medical Staff Peer Review and all related activities of departmental and multidisciplinary peer review.

Investigate incident reports, patient complaints, patient care issues; act as a resource on quality issues and contribute to problem solving of identified quality/risk issues.

Serve as a resource person to the Medical Staff, Nursing and Ancillary Departments, performing validation audits/rounds and providing education to assess regulatory/standard compliance.

Utilize and interpret information obtained from MHS Quality Improvement Technology Platforms and external quality data platforms to obtain quality data for benchmarking.

Perform comprehensive, concurrent, and retrospective clinical reviews and abstractions.

Assist in the collection, coordination, formation, implementation, benchmarking, and reporting of key performance indicators; attend meetings, registries, or databases as necessary.

Education and Certification Requirements

Accredited program (required).

Registered Nurse Compact License (RN License Compact – multi‑state).

Registered Nurse License (RN License) – State of Florida (FL).

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and EHR systems.

Required work experience: one (1) year of relevant healthcare experience.

Additional education: Registered/Professional Nursing, Epidemiology, or Microbiology program, or a Master’s Degree in Public Health (MPH).

Additional license/certification: Florida State licensure required for Registered Nurse or Clinical Lab Technologist.
