Rochester General Hospital is seeking experienced
Registered Nurses (RNs)
for a
Medical‑Surgical/Telemetry Float
assignment. This role involves providing patient‑centred care to adult medical‑surgical and telemetry patients while floating across units to support staffing needs.
This is a
13‑week MSP contract assignment
requiring
EPIC charting experience ,
telemetry competency , and
day shift availability .
Qualifications
Active
New York State Registered Nurse (RN)
licence in good standing (must be in hand; NY is not a compact state)
Minimum
1 year of recent Medical‑Surgical/Telemetry experience
BLS certification
required
EPIC charting experience
required
Ability to work
day shifts
(3 × 12‑hour shifts, 07:00 – 19:00)
Availability to work
every other weekend
Candidates must reside
more than 75 miles
from the facility (local candidates not accepted)
Key Responsibilities
Provide safe, high‑quality nursing care to adult medical‑surgical and telemetry patients
Interpret and monitor cardiac rhythms; recognise and respond to dysrhythmias
Administer medications, manage IV therapy, and perform phlebotomy as required
Conduct patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and accurately document care
Assist with oxygen delivery, including nasal cannula and non‑invasive airway support
Implement infection prevention and isolation precautions
Utilise Rapid Response and Code teams appropriately
Float across multiple MS/Tele units as required (overhire float unit)
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, respiratory therapy, and ancillary staff
Communicate patient status and care plans effectively
Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
Additional Requirements
Compliance with facility health, immunisation, and safety requirements
Adherence to
HIPAA
and applicable federal and state regulations
Completion of required pre‑start modules (up to
5 hours billable )
Return all facility property at the end of the assignment
Floating required across MS/Tele units
Weekend coverage required every other weekend
Orientation:
16 hours (non‑billable)
No guaranteed overtime or paid breaks
Overtime and holiday rate:
1.35×
On‑call rate:
$8.00 per hour
Rochester General Hospital reserves the right to terminate the assignment for cause
Compensation Pay Rate: $60–$65 per hour
