Registered Nurse – MICU – Rochester, NY
Rochester General Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide patient-centered care in the MICU unit. The RN will care for adult and geriatric patients with critical illnesses under ICU protocols, ensuring safe, high-quality nursing care in an acute care setting. This is a 13‑week contract role through MSP requiring MICU experience, EPIC charting skills, and night shift availability (3x12‑hour shifts). Key Responsibilities
Provide safe and effective critical care nursing for patients with sepsis, ARDS, renal failure, heart failure, overdose, CIWA, post‑cardiac arrest/targeted temperature management, respiratory failure/shock. Administer medications including titration of cardiac drips, vasoactive drips, and continuous IV sedation. Perform advanced procedures including CRRT, EKOS, IABP, ECMO, Impella management. Monitor and manage ventilated patients including BiPAP, CPAP, suctioning (ETT, NT), and interpretation of ABGs. Manage arterial lines, central lines, and perform telemetry monitoring. Interpret and respond to cardiac dysrhythmias and manage patients with multi‑organ dysfunction/failure. Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including respiratory therapy, IV teams, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response, and physical therapy. Communicate patient status and changes promptly to MD and care team. Float to other units as needed within skillset. Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Minimum Requirements
Active New York State RN license in good standing. Minimum 2 years of critical care experience. Ability to manage critically ill patients, including multi‑organ failure and advanced life support. EPIC charting experience required. ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications required. Night shift availability (3x12‑hour shifts, 19:00–07:00). Availability to work every other weekend. First‑time travelers accepted; locals not accepted (must be over 75‑mile radius). Compliance & Additional Requirements
Compliance with facility health, immunization, and safety requirements. Compliance with HIPAA and applicable federal and state regulations. Completion of required pre‑start modules; up to 5 hours are billable. Return all facility property at the end of the assignment. Contract Details
MSP Contract – Independent Contractor. Night shift: 3x12‑hour shifts (19:00–07:00). 13‑week assignment. Patient ratios: 1:2 with occasional 1:1 based on acuity. Weekend coverage required every other weekend. Orientation: 36 hours. Overtime and holiday rate: 1.35% multiplier. On‑call rate: $8.00 per hour. Rochester General Hospital reserves the right to terminate the assignment for cause. Unit Details & Floating
