Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Ultrasound Technologist – Outpatient Radiology – Per Diem – Garden City. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment and for performing diagnostic examinations using sonography. The Ultrasound Technologist may also be responsible, depending on work location, for daily operations of the sonographic laboratory, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, reports of equipment failures and quality assessment.
Job Responsibilities
Performs other duties as assigned.
Operates Ultrasound equipment to take diagnostic images of specific body areas and parts as ordered, producing diagnostic images for interpretation by physicians and demonstrating thorough knowledge of ultrasound equipment.
Prepares patients using proper positioning and immobilization, giving clear instructions regarding procedure; quality review of images falls within departmental SOP guidelines.
Accurately utilizes the PACS system to make images available to physicians for interpretation, creating a minimum number of exceptions.
Accurately utilizes systems, enters proper exam coding, arrives and completes exams in a timely fashion.
Assists in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment and supplies, reporting any equipment problems or malfunctions to the supervisor in a timely fashion.
Instructs and supervises ultrasound students in a clinical practicum, working with students to perform exams and performing individual image evaluation.
Minimum Qualifications To qualify, you must have a Technical Diploma Graduate of an accredited two‑year Ultrasound Program; Registered Diagnostic Sonographer or Registered Vascular Technologist required; ability to effectively operate sonographic equipment; evaluate sonograms to acquire appropriate diagnostic information; follow established departmental procedures; work efficiently and cope with emergency situations; maintain emotional and physical health to meet job demands; lift some patients, move heavy equipment up to approximately 500 lb, and move patients in wheelchairs and stretchers; maintain prolonged arm positions necessary for scanning.
Preferred Qualifications Associate’s degree in a related field; 3–5 years minimum of ultrasound experience; 3–5 years of OB/GYN, small parts and/or vascular experience.
