Position Summary Per Diem Paramedic – NYU Langone Long Island. In this role, the successful candidate performs high‑quality pre‑hospital emergency medical care at the advanced life support level, safely transports patients throughout Nassau County according to regional and state protocols, conducts clinically appropriate patient assessments, documents patient history accurately, and records findings on electronic pre‑hospital call reports (e‑PCR).

Job Responsibilities

Perform tasks as assigned.

Conduct clinically appropriate patient assessments and treat patients per NYS DOH BEMS and Nassau County Guidelines, safely transporting them to the most appropriate hospital and transferring care to hospital staff.

Accurately complete electronic pre‑hospital call reports (e‑PCR) for every patient contact, including insurance information and required signatures.

Maintain NYS DOH BEMS Check‑Out Sheets and documentation of any deficiencies with corrective actions, and record activity on the Unit Activity Log.

Minimize out‑of‑service time, document it on the Unit Activity Log, and comply with uniform and personal equipment policies.

Follow Nassau County REMSCO content, communicate with Medcom, monitor radio for assignments, and use proper radio protocol.

Operate emergency vehicles in compliance with regional, NYS DOH BEMS, and hospital policies, check and maintain vehicles and equipment, and ensure restocking and fueling.

Deliver high‑quality patient care in all settings; work well with partners and hospital staff; maintain professional relationships; exhibit compassion, respect, and professionalism toward coworkers, patients, families, and diverse backgrounds; provide interpreter assistance as needed.

Participate in departmental, hospital, and regional quality improvement programs; attend meetings and training sessions.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

Completion of NYS DOH BEMS Approved Paramedic Program.

Completion of CEVO III, CEVO IV, or EVOC Course.

Current and valid NYS Driver’s License.

NYS DOH BEMS Paramedic Certification.

Nassau County REMAC Certification.

Weapons of Mass Destruction Certificate.

Hazardous Materials Awareness Certificate.

Requirement to obtain Nassau Regional EMS MAC Certification within 10 days of hire.

Six months of ambulance experience as a paramedic.

Preferred Qualifications

FEMA I.S. 100, 200, 700, 800.

Six months of 9‑1‑1 ALS experience.

Qualified candidates must effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York State Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $45.00 – $45.00 hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, incentives, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
