Patient Services Associate
Location: New London, CT (On-site) • Full Time • $21.00/hr • Bilingual Required (English & Spanish)

Job Description The Patient Services Associate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, demonstrating exceptional customer service, professionalism, and the ability to multi‑task while managing a busy phone system. The role requires proficient data entry, confidentiality, and continuous improvement of job competencies. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Patient Experience
Provide exceptional service to all patients, visitors, and callers
Oversee a safe, efficient, and comfortable reception area
Greet patients and visitors, assisting them appropriately
Review schedules daily to ensure accuracy and fill appointment opportunities
Schedule and reschedule appointments in accordance with CHC guidelines
Collect, verify, update, and document patient demographics, insurance information, and forms
Reconcile patient visits daily
Insurance
Verify active insurance coverage and update information as necessary
Collect patient payments, balances, and copays
Assist patients with payment plans and sliding fee applications, ensuring timeliness
Complete end‑of‑day reporting and ensure records balance
Phones
Answer, screen, and direct incoming calls; document in the EHR per CHC guidelines
Ensure forms are completed accurately and scan into the EHR per CHC indexing protocols
HIPAA
Consistently ensure and maintain patient confidentiality
Other Responsibilities
Escalate concerns to site leads/Operations Manager and offer improvement suggestions
Support the manager in monitoring office supply inventory
Meet and exceed assigned departmental goals
Other duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Medical Office or Medical Assistant or 2+ years of directly relevant experience
Exceptional customer service skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven ability to multi‑task
Problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills
Excellent organizational skills
Preferred: Healthcare experience in Medical, Dental, or Behavioral Health
Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word (preferred)
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
Full‑time role (40 hours); may include evenings, weekends, and one Saturday per month
Minimal physical effort; must operate computer and telephone continuously
Regular regional travel as necessary
