Summary of Job Duties:

The Surgical Technician assembles supplies for surgical procedures, sets up and maintains the sterile field, passes surgical instruments, and assists in room preparation. This professional nursing role requires the ability to coordinate care the needs for the surgical case the surgeon, nurses, other members of the team to provide an optimal outcome for the patient and work collaboratively with clinic providers, fellows, and staff. Requires the ability to effectively communicate.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

Graduate of an accredited Scrub Technologist school/program OR 2 years of surgical scrub tech training through the military

Ability to follow oral instruction, read, and write

Preferred Qualifications

Scrub Tech Certification

1 year of operating room experience

Additional Information:

Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).

Responsibilities

Ensures availability of appropriate instrumentation, supplies and equipment for assigned cases.

Ensures that the room has been prepared for the upcoming cases, with appropriate equipment available and ready for surgical use.

Ensures that the instruments are cleaned, arranged and transported to the soiled workroom according to department policy.

Independently assists with instrument reprocessing tasks when assigned cases are completed and time permits.

Ensures that the operating rooms are case‑ready for the following day's cases.

Utilizes available communication tools.

Demonstrates teamwork by offering assistance to other team members.

Shares knowledge, information and expertise with other staff.

Attends departmental in‑services and other educational offerings.

Consistently demonstrates new knowledge and skills through incorporation into actual clinical practice.

May perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Information:
