Postdoctoral positions are available in the department of Symptom Research at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

We are seeking highly motivated individuals with a strong interest in Cancer Neuroscience. Our team studies the crosstalk between neurons, cancer cells, glial cells, and chemotherapy. We use state‑of‑the‑art neuromodulatory techniques, preclinical mouse models, primary cell culture, and molecular biology approaches to achieve these goals.

The successful appointee(s) will be working under the supervision and mentorship of Yuan Pan, PhD, Assistant Professor and CPRIT Scholar in the Department of Symptom Research.

All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES The postdoctoral fellow(s) will gain an understanding of neuronal regulation of nervous system cancer and glia‑mediated neurological deficits. They will learn skill sets in neuroscience, cancer biology, cell biology, and molecular biology. Dr. Pan will guide the postdoctoral fellow(s) in study design, data analysis, interpretation, presentation, manuscript writing, and grant application.

Eligibility Requirements An ideal candidate should have a doctoral degree, with a background in neuroscience, especially in glial biology. Prior experience in rodent handling/surgeries is required.

Experience in the following skill sets is preferred but not all required: tissue processing, cell culture, gene expression manipulation, microscopy, immunohistochemistry, qPCR, FACS, MACS.

The postdoctoral fellow is expected to be highly motivated, dedicated, organized, and have excellent technical skills, communication skills, and a strong work ethic. The candidate is expected to be an excellent team player who can work together with others.

POSITION INFORMATION MD Anderson offers full‑time postdoc positions with a salary ranging from $64,000 to $76,000, depending on the number of years of postgraduate experience. Offsite work arrangements are subject to approval and may be modified or revoked at any time on business needs, performance considerations, or regulatory requirements.

This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
