Speech Language Pathologist - IRP Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist - IRP

Department: University Hospital | Inpatient Rehabilitation Administration

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is a core member of the multidisciplinary rehabilitation team. The SLP provides assessment, treatment, education and support to patients who have injuries and conditions such as traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, neurogenic disorders, orthopedic problems, burns, amputations and chronic pain. The role involves developing individualized care plans, delivering a wide variety of therapeutic techniques, educating patients and families, facilitating post‑discharge planning, evaluating quality of services, and participating in outcomes management. The SLP also provides specialized treatment to help patients explore and identify productive avocational interests, including assessment of interests, exposure to local resources and education to maximize post‑discharge planning. The SLP serves as the community link and liaison for patients, staff and consumers of Rehabilitation Services.

Minimum Qualifications

Licensed or certified in speech/language pathology with a Master’s degree; must hold a license in the State of Ohio and a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC/SLP).

Experience in a medical setting preferred, typically one to two years.

Ability to maintain professional licensure, demonstrate commitment to continuing education, and meet mandatory education and health requirements.

Clearance through the National Database of Practitioners.
