Overview
The Department of Mathematics at The University of Texas at Austin has openings for professional‑track (Lecturer/Assistant Professor of Instruction) teaching positions to begin Fall 2026. Primary duties are teaching undergraduate courses. A full‑time load consists of three courses per long semester.
Position Details These are one‑year positions with renewal subject to performance and departmental needs. The number of positions depends on enrollment, so continued employment is not guaranteed. However, successful Lecturers and Assistant Professors of Instruction are routinely renewed year‑by‑year. The starting salary for a full‑time load over both long semesters is $54,000 with health and retirement benefits.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in mathematical sciences required by July 1, 2026. The rare exception may be made for applicants with special technical qualifications desired by the department.
Previous teaching experience at the university level, commitment to quality teaching, and good communication skills are required.
Special consideration may be given to applicants with experience and/or interest in course coordination/development, advising and other departmental needs.
