Bureau: Administration | Public Health Services Full-Time County Contractual

Hours:

8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday

Job Description Nature of Work:

Under direct supervision from the Deputy Health Officer of Public Health Services, provide overall administrative support to the Office of Public Health Services (PHS). Assist in everyday operations and management of five public health bureaus: Behavioral Health, Disease Prevention and Management, Environmental Health, Family Health, and School Health and Support, to include but not limited to: scheduling meetings, preparing communication and reports, and working on special assignments, including clinical research. Responsible for performing complex administrative tasks, having routine contact with staff, state and local officials, elected officials, and the general public. Must be able to work independently, possess strong analytical and written skills, and manage and direct projects. Provide guidance to the public and department staff in interpreting policies and procedures in fulfilling the mission of the Department of Health, which is to preserve, promote and protect the health and well-being of all people by advancing health equity in Anne Arundel County.

Minimum Qualifications Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience:

Two years in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

May substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education. May substitute additional graduate-level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of required experience.
