The Department of Poultry Science at the University of Georgia is seeking applicants for an Assistant Professor of Poultry Science. The position is a nine-month academic-year tenure track position with a 70% Research, 25% Teaching, and 5% Service appointment. Successful applicants will be expected to establish innovative, nationally recognized research and teaching programs that complement existing disciplines and faculty within the department. Potential foci for the position may include, but are not limited to reproductive physiology, assessment of and improvement to avian fertility, stress physiology, neurophysiology, comparative physiology between poultry and other avian species, and/or embryology. The successful candidate will be expected to obtain extramural funding related to their research and teaching interests that advance subsequent poultry/avian science research, education, and poultry sector innovation. Additional duties include lecturing for established Poultry Science courses, undergraduate and graduate student mentorship, and student recruitment. The incumbent will collaborate and work cooperatively with other scientists and industry clientele and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The position will be located at the University of Georgia Campus in Athens, Georgia. Additional Requirements & Qualifications
Must possess a Ph.D. with a background in poultry/avian science. Preferred knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies include a demonstrated record of collaborative research, teaching, extramural grant success, program development contributions that integrate applied science, and student mentorship.
