RN Interventional Radiology (IR)
Location: Kenosha, WI 53142
Position: Interventional Radiology RN
Job Type: Crisis Rate | Contract
Hours: 40 hrs/week
Shift: 8-hour Day Shift (Start times vary 07:00–08:00 based on call schedule)
Contract Dates: Dec 8, 2025 – Mar 7, 2026

Work Setting: IR Procedural Suite (2 rooms)
Position Summary This IR RN supports a busy procedural radiology department performing a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient image-guided procedures. The nurse circulates cases, administers conscious/moderate sedation, manages IV medications, and provides pre-/post-procedure patient care. The role requires strong procedural experience and the ability to respond quickly to urgent add‑ons while on call.
Core Responsibilities
Circulate IR procedures and support the physician/APC team throughout all phases of care.
Administer conscious/moderate sedation (no propofol) and monitor patient response.
Manage IV medications, hemodynamics, and procedural documentation.
Prep, assess, and recover patients pre‑ and post‑procedure.
Assist with procedures requiring ultrasound guidance and provide support in CT as needed.
Collaborate with techs, radiologists, and RRT for complex cases or deteriorating patients.
Maintain workflow in a 2‑suite IR department and manage emergent call‑ins.
Follow all safety, compliance, and sedation protocols.
Required Experience & Skills
2+ years IR RN experience (required)
Conscious/moderate sedation competency
Strong procedural nursing background
Ability to circulate all core IR procedures
Comfortable with fast‑paced call environment
Preferred: EPIC, Siemens Artis Zee familiarity
Required Certifications
RN License: WI or Compact
BLS (AHA)
ACLS (Required)
Common Procedure Types Required:
Paracentesis & Thoracentesis
Biopsies (Bone, Thyroid, Liver, Renal)
Abscess drains
G‑tubes (new & exchanges)
Angiograms (UE/LE)
Fistulograms
Kyphoplasty/Vertebroplasty
Coil embolizations
Nephrostomy tubes & stents
Ports, trialysis catheters, central lines
IVC filter management
Preferred:
Y90, TIPS
Call & Scheduling
On-Call Required
Every 3rd weekend: Fri 16:30 → Mon 07:00
1–2 weekday call shifts per week (16:30–07:00)
Late shift: 08:00–16:30 on call days
Holiday: Possible 1 holiday on-call during contract
No staffed weekend hours — call only
