Required Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Experience No experience required.

Required License/Registration/Certification

Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license or equivalent temporary work permit, provisional license, or active compact state RN license in good standing

American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification for the healthcare provider, valid for at least 6 months after employment

Physical Requirements The essential functions include the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50‑100 pounds daily and 25‑50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, and sit for extended periods. Conditions may involve exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.

Shift Must work two, 12‑hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) every Saturday and Sunday – a weekend premium position. Work 24 hours, paid for 32 hours at the regular rate.

Job Summary The primary responsibilities include providing total, comprehensive, continuous, patient‑centered care: assessment, documentation, planning, implementation, teaching, development, and evaluation of a nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for nursing care technicians; and adhering to university policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations. Collaborative efforts among nursing staff and physicians to increase communication and enhance patient outcomes are also required.

Knowledge of Maslow’s eight Basic Human Needs, Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns framework, and Swanson’s Caring model

Superb direct patient care and critical thinking skills

Basic computer navigation and internet knowledge

Professional, respectful communication with patients, families, co‑workers, and physicians

Strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills

Highly motivated, proactive, confidence in advocating for patients and families

Team‑oriented, open, and honest communication

Exceptional technical skills and proven ability to work independently and in a team

Preferred Education / Experience BSN + at least one year of RN experience.
