Salary $35,984 – $62,971 per year

Description of Work This position is at Alexander Correctional Institution in Taylorsville, North Carolina. Behavioral Health Case Managers provide certified support to behavioral health missions statewide, assist in facilitating movement and functionality of treatment programs/services, and may carry a caseload of offenders requiring specialized case management skills due to mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or developmental disability. The BH Case Manager will be supervised by a licensed BH clinician per scope of practice requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in managing offender movement within and across facility areas to optimize the functionality and accessibility of treatment programs and services.

Facilitate delivery of behavioral health services, ensure adherence to individualized treatment plans, and motivate offenders toward treatment goals.

Provide operational coordination and supervision of offenders during specialized treatment activities.

Develop, coordinate, and implement multidisciplinary treatment interventions focused on specific behaviors and medication adherence.

Monitor offender progress toward intervention goals, administer program incentive systems, and support ongoing rehabilitation.

Maintain clear and accurate documentation within HERO and OPUS systems to ensure continuity of care and communication among treatment team members.

Thorough knowledge of policies and procedures of prisons and supportive counseling techniques.

Gather and evaluate information concerning an individual's background and mental capabilities; develop and supervise programs within prison policies.

Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Minimum Education and Experience Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Recreation, or related field from an accredited institution; or high school/GED diploma and two years of custody experience within the NC Department of Public Safety; or equivalent combination. Must be eligible for certification by the NC Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
