Job Summary

The Vascular Ultrasonographer performs non‑invasive diagnostic vascular imaging procedures using ultrasound technology to assist physicians in diagnosing and managing vascular conditions. This role requires a thorough understanding of vascular anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamics, as well as technical proficiency in operating vascular ultrasound equipment. The Vascular Ultrasonographer ensures patient comfort, safety, and accurate image acquisition while adhering to established protocols and regulatory standards.

Essential Functions

Performs vascular ultrasound examinations using approved protocols to capture high-quality diagnostic images of arteries, veins, and other vascular structures.

Obtains relevant clinical history from patient interviews, physician orders, or medical records to support accurate diagnostic imaging.

Reviews and correlates prior imaging studies and patient history to optimize exam quality and relevance.

Documents and records all pertinent anatomical and pathological findings in accordance with physician and department standards.

Presents clinical findings and preliminary impressions to the interpreting physician to support diagnostic decisions.

Maintains and operates ultrasound equipment, ensuring functionality, cleanliness, and readiness in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and safety protocols.

Maintains a safe and infection‑controlled environment, applying proper procedures in accordance with hospital policy.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

1–2 years of experience performing vascular ultrasound procedures preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of vascular anatomy, physiology, and common vascular pathologies.

Proficiency in operating vascular ultrasound equipment and interpreting real‑time imaging.

Understanding of vascular hemodynamics and Doppler ultrasound techniques.

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex protocols.

Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with patients, physicians, and staff.

Ability to adapt to fast‑paced clinical environments while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.

Licenses and Certifications

RVT – Registered Vascular Technologist (ARMDS) required.

RVS – Registered Vascular Sonographer (CCI) required.

BCLS – Basic Life Support required.
