Registered Nurse (RN) – Acute Care CDU Fulltime Nights (7p‑7a)
Wellstar Health System is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) on the night shift (7:00 p – 7:00 a). This full‑time position offers a sign‑on bonus and is located in the Wellstar Paulding campus, a Magnet‑designated facility with high patient satisfaction scores.
Job Summary Full‑time night shift 7 p‑7 a in the CDU (Clinical Decision Unit/Short Stay). Proactive member of an interdisciplinary team delivering individualized, evidence‑based patient care. Supported by Wellstar Shared Governance and the Professional Practice Model. Scope of practice follows the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and ANA standards.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Perform the nursing process – assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation – using evidence‑based practice and analytical thinking.
Provide relationship‑based, patient‑centered care tailored to individual demographics and cultural diversity.
Partner with patients and families using bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and timely teaching.
Adhere to current clinical practice standards and promote safe, quality patient care.
Coordinate safe and quality patient care delivery and documentation, supporting an inclusive, respectful environment.
Contribute to performance improvement and research, including data collection, evidence‑based questions, and resource utilization.
Participate in protocol and procedure development to improve outcomes such as readmission rates and adverse events.
Serve as preceptor or mentor to other nurses and health‑care staff.
Perform additional duties as assigned and comply with all Wellstar policies, standards, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education
Associates Nursing or Diploma (RN) – Bachelor’s Nursing preferred.
Required Minimum Licenses & Certifications
RN – Registered nurse (single‑state) or RN‑COMPACT (multi‑state compact).
BLS (Basic Life Support) – or ARC‑BLS, BLS‑I (Instructor).
Additional Licenses & Certifications (Optional) All listed certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
Required Minimum Experience Minimum 5 years of RN experience; direct patient care experience preferred.
Required Minimum Skills
Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Basic computer and technology skills to support clinical care.
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment and respond to emergencies calmly and decisively.
Excellent time‑management and critical‑thinking skills.
