Required License/Registration/Certification: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification must be obtained within 6 months from date of hire. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for long periods, stand or walk with objects up to 10 pounds, push/pull objects over 50 pounds; sit at computer workstations for extended periods, repetitive motion. Shift: Three 12‑hr shifts per week; rotating shifts including weekends and holidays, may include call based on departmental needs. Job Summary
The Medical Laboratory Scientist/Certified will be responsible for performing clinical laboratory testing in a fast‑paced academic medical center. The laboratory provides services to all aspects of the Level I trauma center and throughout the healthcare enterprise, including solid organ and bone marrow transplant, KY Children’s Hospital, and Markey Cancer Center. The Core Lab has multiple testing sites within the organization: Chandler, Good Samaritan, ED Satellite, and Markey Satellite. This position will be instrumental in maintaining a quality of service based on accuracy and timely result reporting, and will handle testing including, but not limited to, blood gas, chemistry, coagulation, hematology, and urinalysis. The CAP‑Accredited Laboratory at the University of Kentucky showcases state‑of‑the‑art instrumentation and technology. Other Information
The starting pay for this position was recently adjusted with the minimum hourly rate set at $27.00/hour. All pay rates will be based on candidate experience.
