Job Overview Family Guidance Centers, Inc. (FGC) is a not‑for‑profit behavioral healthcare organization that treats substance use disorder and other related problems. We are seeking a Recovery Specialist to work closely with patients in individual and group settings to enhance their recovery.

Key Responsibilities

Provide individualized guidance, coaching, and support while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

Engage with patients for at least six hours each day and document interactions in SAMMS (30 hours per week).

Prioritize engagement with newly admitted patients.

Offer motivation, support, and education to individuals in treatment at FGC.

Train patients in the use of personal and community resources.

Develop relapse‑prevention plans and assist in building formal and informal community supports.

Help patients expand their social support networks of relatives, friends, and significant others.

Provide encouragement during crises and stress to remove barriers to ongoing recovery.

Work Schedule Monday – Friday: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm and some Saturdays: 7:00 am – 11:00 am.

Work Location 15400 S. Page Avenue, Harvey.

Compensation $19.23 per hour with certification; $18.26 per hour without certification.

Preferred Start Date November 24th, 2025.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Age 18 or older.

At least one year of recovery from substance use, mental health, or co‑occurring challenges.

Certification by the Illinois Certification Board as a Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CRPS) within one year of employment, or be certified within one year of hire.

DCFS clearance required.
