About the job The Overnight Veterinary Technician position will assist the hospital in delivering excellent care to all of our patients. Perform Veterinary Technician duties pursuant to Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital protocols, embodying the culture of treating every client with the utmost courtesy and attentive care, while sensitively addressing the emotional bond between owners and their pets.
How you'll make a difference
Monitor and document patient vital signs and activity.
Provide technical support to emergency veterinarians.
Provide comfort, diagnostic, surgical, and nursing care to all patients, including critical care.
Perform basic, emergent, and critical‑care anesthetic monitoring.
Obtain and prepare samples for diagnostic testing (blood draws, arterial blood gas sampling, cystocentesis, urinary catheter sampling, free‑catch urine).
Perform laboratory procedures, including blood typing, cross‑matching, and slide agglutination testing.
Take and process abdominal, thoracic, appendicular, spinal, and skull radiographs while following radiation safety protocols.
Properly use and maintain medical equipment.
Provide professional client communication.
What you will bring
Experience as a Registered Veterinary Technician for 2+ years, or consideration of candidates with relevant experience.
Experience in ER/ICU settings.
A strong desire to learn and apply knowledge and skills to daily work.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Ability to demonstrate technical procedures as outlined in technician protocols.
Reliability and follow‑through on all work‑related tasks and projects.
Schedule Thursday through Saturday, 6:00 pm – 6:00 am or 7:00 pm – 7:00 am Sunday through Tuesday, 6:00 pm – 6:00 am or 7:00 pm – 7:00 am
Salary $29.00 – $34.00 hourly (includes differential)
