Physical Requirements:

Regularly sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods with repetitive motion (e.g., typing); walking, including pushing, pulling, and/or lifting up to 10 lb, with occasional lifting of up to 50 lb. May involve exposure to loud noises, bloodborne/airborne pathogens, combative individuals, cuts, and punctures.

Job Summary The Patient Services Coordinator/UKHC will lead front‑end coordination and intake for patient visits, acting as the lead scheduler for the area. Responsibilities include problem‑solving, delegation, scheduling coordination of care appointments (clinic, radiology, chemo, radiation therapy), and any additional required appointments.

Tasks perform patient registration and necessary paperwork, obtain reimbursement for hospital and physicians, and collect copays. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Consents for treatment

Authorization for release of information

Federal Medicare messages and HIPAA privacy notices

Verification of financial data and assignment of appropriate financial classifications, insurance plan codes, and coordination of benefits

Assigning medical record numbers after thorough database search

Ensuring referrals and insurance authorizations are obtained

Directing patients/visitors to the correct location

Providing service with dignity and respect, using online resources to confirm patient destinations when in doubt or lacking paperwork

Collaborating with colleagues and following federal, state, university, hospital, and departmental policies to meet patient needs
