Job Description American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a NC or compact RN license and at least 18 months of recent Med/Tele experience.
Responsibilities
Work in a hospital Med/Surg Telemetry unit with an average daily census of 51 patients
Patient population includes chronic diseases, CHF, mental health, addiction services, COPD, diabetes, wounds, and geriatric care
RN to patient ratios are typically 1:4-6, with possible surges up to 1:7-8 depending on acuity
Weekend position with all weekend shifts required
Shift options are 0700-1900 or 1900-0700, with 36-hour schedules available
No on-call responsibilities
Floating required within multiple regional facilities as needed, with paid time for mid-shift floating
Uses EPIC EMR, with various medical equipment including cardiac rhythm monitoring and EKG
Department is supported by a multidisciplinary team including Nurse Manager, supervisors, CNAs, and Rapid Response RNs
Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays during their assignment
Up to 6 days of approved time off allowed, exclusive of holidays, with added time to end of contract if hours are not met
First time travelers will be considered for this role
Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the assigned unit
Scrub color required is navy blue
Free parking is available on-site
Department culture emphasizes teamwork and accountability
Orientation includes NEO and two days of departmental training
Requirements
Active NC or compact RN license
Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience
Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Proficient in cardiac rhythm interpretation and non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone)
Able to perform IV starts, wound care, dressing changes, and blood product administration
Experience with patients requiring tubes/drains and working with geriatric populations
