Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position with strong Med/Tele skills and the flexibility to float within a multi-hospital region.
Responsibilities
Work in a 27-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
Patient population includes stroke, COPD, chest pain, altered mental status, and GI bleed
RN patient ratio is 1:5 with average daily census of 20 patients
Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
Shifts are 1900-0700 (12-hour nights) with every other weekend rotation
No on-call requirements
Travelers will work 75% of holidays
Floating required within all facilities in the designated region and within scope of practice
Mid-shift floating between facilities is compensated and on the clock
Primary responsibilities include care coordination, medication administration, and monitoring of telemetry patients
Support staff includes CNAs (certified for certain procedures), 24/7 charge nurse, phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, and hospitalists
Telemetry monitoring techs available
Positive and team-driven unit culture
Orientation includes facility onboarding and 2 days of departmental training
Navy blue scrubs are required
Free parking provided
Must reside at least 50 miles from the home unit to be eligible
Up to 6 days of requested time off can be approved (excluding holidays), with contract extension required for unworked hours
Not preferred for first-time travelers, but will consider Resource Team candidates
Requirements
Active RN license (Standard or Compact) required and in hand
Minimum of 18 months Med/Tele experience required
BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
Proficiency in general Med/Tele skills including stroke assessment, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tube management, trach care, PIV starts, NGT placement, drain/tube management, and PCA pumps
Experience managing cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids
Epic EMR experience preferred
