The Engineering Department at Kinetic Vision is expanding its product development capabilities and is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play an integral part in the design and development of cutting‑edge products, on projects ranging from initial concept sketch through to production. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality solutions that exceed client expectations.
A Mechanical Design Engineer has an in-depth understanding of mechanical design, product development, manufacturing processes, prototyping modalities, and engineering analysis. They design and/or lead the creation of technical solutions within their focus area, while mentoring lower‑level teammates.
Primary Responsibilities
Design and development of mechanical systems, ensuring functionality, reliability, manufacturability, and cost‑effectiveness
Conduct analysis, design reviews, and feasibility studies to optimize product performance and reliability
Serve projects as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Mechanical Design, along with stakeholders from other disciplines, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components into overall product designs
Utilize CAD software to create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
Generate prototypes and conduct testing to validate design concepts and iterate as needed
Coordinate the selection of materials, components, and manufacturing processes to meet project requirements and budget constraints.
Design solutions based on company and client‑defined requirements and acceptance criteria
Drive efficient solution development by delivering high‑quality deliverables while mentoring lower levels
Provide accurate work estimates and communicate status and issues promptly when participating in internal or external projects
Peer review work and provide guidance and support for peers and lower‑level co‑workers
Qualifications
CAD experience in SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, Creo, ProENGINEER and/or SolidEdge
Experience with DFM, DFA, and material selection
Background in new product development or consulting
Proven ability to creatively and proficiently design intricate mechanisms
Experience in medical device design beneficial
Prototype manufacturing experience
Tolerance analysis skills
Driven and innovative approach to problem‑solving with strong analytical and conceptual design skills
Past demonstration of self‑sufficiency/self‑motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision
Adaptability to changing project requirements and schedules
Ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships
Excellent interpersonal, client communication, and project planning skills
Organized and methodical with attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly
Education Requirements
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field, and at least 3 years of related experience.
