Responsibilities What you get to do every day:
Lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance backend services and middleware solutions supporting mission-critical applications in secure government environments.
Architect and implement distributed systems using messaging frameworks such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Pulsar to enable real-time data processing and event-driven architectures.
Develop andmaintainRESTful APIs and microservices using Python and SQL withfocuson security, performance, and reliability.
Design and implement agentic AIsolutionsleveragingframeworks such as Agent OS, MCP,LangGraph, andLangChainto create intelligent, autonomous application capabilities.
Lead implementation of robust authentication and authorization mechanisms and identity management solutions ensuring compliance with security requirements.
Architect deployment strategiesincludingblue/green deployments, canary releases, and feature flag implementations to enable zero-downtime releases.
Optimizedata pipelines and application performance through efficient SQL query design, data transformation strategies, and integration with PostgreSQL-based databases and data warehouses.
Mentor development team membersonbest practices for code quality, testing methodologies, troubleshooting techniques, and software architecture patterns.
Design and implement comprehensive testing strategies including automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing harnesses.
Collaborate with database administrators, DevOps engineers, and stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions within project timelines and constraints.
Qualifications Clearance Required:
Active TS clearance (with SCI Eligibility) and eligibility to obtain CI Poly **We are not able to upgrade or sponsor clearances**
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
8+ years of professional software development experience with at least 5 years in backend/middleware development
Required Skills:
Expert-levelproficiencyin Python withdemonstratedability to write clean, maintainable, and highly efficient code
Advanced SQL skills including complex queries, CTEs, window functions, query optimization, and stored procedure development
Extensive experience working with relational databases and data warehouses, particularly PostgreSQL and its variants (AWS RDS, Aurora, Redshift, Timescale DB, Enterprise DB, etc.)
Strong understanding of database design, indexing strategies, and performance optimization techniques
Proventrack recorddesigning and implementing secure RESTful APIs with proper authentication and authorization patterns
Solid experience with Linux command line administration, particularly RHEL and Rocky Linux distributions
Experience with advanced deployment strategies including blue/green deployments, canary releases, and feature flag frameworks
Proven ability to design and implement comprehensive automated testing strategies and frameworks
Advanced troubleshooting and debugging skills with ability to diagnose complex system issues independently
Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
Excellent communication skills with ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred Skills:
Strongproficiencyin JavaScript/TypeScript or Scala as a secondary language
Extensive hands-on experience with Docker containerization and Kubernetes orchestration in production environments
Good understanding of message-driven architectures and production experience with at least one messaging platform (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Pulsar)
Strong experience with GitLab CI/CD or other DevOps pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment workflows
Demonstratedexpertiseimplementing identity management solutions and security best practices
AWS cloud infrastructure experience including services like Lambda, ECS, EKS, RDS, Aurora, Redshift, and API Gateway
Experience with data parsing, transformation, and ETL pipeline development
